Sewing Instructions:
NOTE: for this garment and other stretch jersey projects we recommend using a 4 thread overlock stitch but you can also use a sewing machine + zig zag stitch.
1. Hemming The Mask Detail:
Lay the mask panel's right side together with the folded finishing detail's right side. Stitch it around the upper side curves (starting from the side until that small corner shape). Cut off the surplus of the strip.
Lay the mask panel's right side together with the folded finishing detail's right side. Stitch it around the upper curved (starting from one side until the other side). Cut off the surplus of the strip.
Work from the right side of the mask panel to topstitch the strip 5mm next to joining seam catching inside strip. Press.
2. Joining Mask Panel With Side And Back Panels:
Lay side panel's right side with mask panel's wrong side. Match the mask's side edge with side panel's notches. Pin.
Lay aback panel right side with side and mask panel's right sides. Stitch. Press.
Repeat with the other side.
3. Hemming The Forehead:
Lay the hat's right side together with the folded finishing detail's right side. Stitch it around the forehead curve (starting from the other corner at the middle until the other corner). Cut off the surplus of the strip.
Work from the right side of the mask panel to topstitch the strip 5mm next to joining seam catching inside strip. Press.
4. Sewing Neck Seam:
Lay side panel right side with mask side edge's right side. Stitch one neck seam.
5. Hemming:
Use again the double folded finishing detail around the lowest hem. Stitch.
Work from the right side of the mask panel to topstitch the strip 5mm next to joining seam catching inside strip. Press.
6. Sewing The Other Neck Seam:
Lay side panel right side with mask side edge's right side. Stitch one neck seam.
7. Securing The Seams:
If you used a serger: For the seam where hem doesn't cover the serger's stitch, we suggest to either hide the loose threads inside the seam or make a securing stitch with a sewing machine.
Give the final press and you have finished!
